Policy on non-research personnel observing within the control room

Access to the control room is limited to research personnel only that have passed the CTI safety requirements. This policy is to protect the privacy of subjects and to avoid situations in which the appearance of an obvious lesion or abnormality in the MR images would prompt questions that neither non-clinical research personnel nor the CTI staff would be qualified to answer. We recommend that these types of findings should first be confirmed by a radiologist, and should then be communicated to the subject (or the subject’s authorized representative) by the Principal Investigator or his/her designee.

The only exception to this policy is if the Principal Investigator is personally present in the control room and will be prepared to discuss any findings with the non-research personnel.
